Apple made a great addition to their list of Smartphones and also updated the earlier iPhone 5S with the introduction of iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 features a much wider screen and is very slim compared to the iPhone 5S. It runs iOS 8 with Apple A8 processor. It’s available only in space gray, gold, silver (colors) and can be found in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models. I guess this time Apple decided not to offer a 32GB model.

iPhone 6 – Design

The Apple iPhone 6 is just 6.9mm thin which is far more slimmer than the 7.6mm of the iPhone 5S. It weighs 129 grams. The design of the iPhone 6 is pretty much different from the predecessor, the edges are round curved and the Apple logo is made from a stainless steel inlay.

Taking a closer look, you’ll notice few more differences, such as the front camera and power button location. However, the overall design of the iPhone 6 is classic and it gives users three color options to choose from, silver, gold hues and space grey.

iPhone 6 – Display

The beauty of the iPhone 6 didn’t end with the design. Apple has finally decided to feature wide screens and the iPhone 6 took in a 4.7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with an upgraded 750 X 1334 pixels resolution, offering Oleophobic coating, Shatter proof glass protection.

It’s clear that Apple is trying to fit into the game of wide screen devices and with a Smartphone like the iPhone 6, i’m certain they’ve got a clear shot.

iPhone 6 – Software And Performance

The iPhone 6 works on iOS 8 and runs the 64-bit A8 processor with Apple’s new M8 motion co-processor. But we were disappointed with our 2GB RAM expectation, it still came with same old 1GB RAM. iPhone 6 didn’t offer a 32GB model for reasons still unknown, it came in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models (the higher the internal storage capacity, the higher the price).

The battery of the iPhone 6 is very much capable to keep it running for quite a reasonable amount of time; users should expect 14 hours of talktime on 3G, 11 hours of Wi-Fi browsing and up to 10 hours on LTE.

Camera

Apple iPhone 6 still came with an 8 megapixels iSight camera but with a number of improvements. According to Apple, the new autofocus mechanic is faster and more accurate.

Camera features: Dual-LED flash, 1080p HD video recording, HDR, image stabilization, geo-tagging, simultaneous HD video & image recording, touch focus, face & smile detection. For selfies, you have a 1.2MP facetime HD camera at the front with HDR and up to 720p HD video.

Network And Connectivity

iPhone 6 features a single Nano-SIM, providing up to 150mbps of download speed on LTE. It’ll also offer voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi calling. NFC (Near Field Communication) feature is now for the first time available in iPhone 6. For connectivity you also have a faster Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Apple has finally decided to join the phablet game with the introduction of the iPhone 6 Plus which also came along with the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6. Featuring a wide 5.5 inch full HD display, upgraded battery, runs iOS 8 on Apple A8 processor and just as the 4.7 inch brother, it can be found in Gold, Silver and Space gray color variant.

The iPhone 6 Plus is available in three models, the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. All featuring a 2GB RAM without microSD card support.

Design

With a bigger 5.5 inch screen, the iPhone 6 Plus weighs 172 grams and measures 158.1 X 77.8 X 7.1mm which makes it much more slimmer than the iPhone 5S. It has a metallic design with round-curved edges and looks very identical to the iPhone 6.

Display

iPhone 6 Plus came with a much brilliant 1920 X 1080 LED-backlit IPS LCD screen at 5.5 inches, placing it in the phablet category and that’s also a major upgrade compared to the iPhone 6. It’s under the precious protection of Shatter proof and Oleophobic coating.

Camera

Apple maintained same 8MP iSight camera on the iPhone 6 Plus but made some improvements. The camera is believed to be faster and clearer than other models. It features dual-LED flash, autofocus, optical image stabilization, geo-tagging, touch focus, face & smile detection, simultaneous HD video and image recording, panorama, HDR, 1080p HD video. At the front is positioned a 1.2MP camera, featuring HDR and also great for self shots.

Performance (Software)

Apple iPhone 6 Plus runs iOS 8 with the new Apple 64-bit A8 processor which offers a 25% faster CPU and 50% faster graphics. Unlike the iPhone 6, it came with a 2GB RAM but on same 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models (with the 3GB model nowhere to be found). It doesn’t have a memory card slot, so storage expansion via microSD card is disabled but i don’t expect you to consume even a 16GB memory easily.

The iPhone 6 Plus has a non-removable battery which according to Apple can survive for up to 24 hours on talktime over 3G, 384 hours on standby (3G) and 80 on music play.

Connectivity

iPhone 6 Plus offers up to 150mbps on 4G and for connectivity it features the unexpected NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth 4.0 (A2DP), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi hotspot.
